High Fructose Corn Syrup Will Derail
Your Feel Great Journey
High-fructose corn syrup has absolutely no nutritional value. However, it tastes very good and is highly addictive. That's why it shows up in literally thousands of items we consume (I stopped short of using the word food). Since it is addictive, eating it makes you want more, thus buying more.
Here is an interesting example how we hear partial truths to make something sound good that is actually that is bad for you. First a little background.
I live in the Midwest, in a corn producing state. Corn is important to our local economy. So local companies are always trying to find new ways to use corn, even if it is not good for us.
I heard a news report on the radio recently about how local farmers are concerned that high-fructose corn syrup demand is dropping due to increased use of sugar instead. The report said that the number of calories of high-fructose corn syrup is the same as sugar (which may or may not be true, I don't know). And that was their logic for continued support for high-fructose corn syrup! When I heard that, my jaw dropped!
This is a prime example of propaganda. A more complete picture would include information about this information:
- High-fructose corn syrup shoots your blood sugar up faster than cane sugar, which could cause type 2 diabetes over time. Here is an article about why high-fructose corn syrup causes insulin resistance.
- High-fructose corn syrup not only has no nutritional value, it is extremely detrimental to our health.
- High-fructose corn syrup is highly addictive.
- Since high-fructose corn syrup affects blood sugar, it may negatively affect brain chemistry.
- High-fructose corn syrup rots our teeth which causes other problems.
- High-fructose corn syrup promotes weight gain. Here is an article with more information.
There is nothing nutritionally positive about high-fructose corn syrup. But, of course, the news report didn't say any of that because they want to continue production of high-fructose. Here some links that do give more accurate information about this addictive toxic substance.

Make sure, when you hear any news report, that you don't swallow it, hook, line and sinker. Listen with a critical ear. Ask questions. No person is completely truthful. Every person has a set of paradigms that they think are correct (which they may not be). Question what you hear and what you believe. When something comes up that doesn't seem to fit your paradigms, try to figure out why. Be willing to reevaluate what you believe. It makes for quite an exciting life and opens you up for growth and adventure.
