Where Do Dairy and Processed Foods Fit In
Your Feel Great Journey?

Short Answer: Nowhere.

Long Answer: Read on.

Dairy
Did you know that all dairy is pasteurized (by law) which means it is cooked to destroy germs and bacteria? So how do you get raw milk? In the Midwest at least, you can't purchase it. It's against the law. However, to get around that many farmers will sell you a share of a coop or something like that. And then the raw milk is part of the coop. I'm not completely sure how it works since I have never done it. But if you check around I'm sure you will find something like it where you live. But be very, very careful. Recently, I heard of people getting sick from raw milk. This could possibly be due to the way milk is usually gathered and handled. Farmers assume milk will be cooked, so they don't spend as much time concerned with the cleanliness of their facilities compared to a farmer that does not make that assumption. How to do you know? Ask.

However, as far as dairy goes, I would like to say that I am not a big advocate of eating any dairy. Here are some reasons why I think this:

  • Humans are the only animals that consume the milk of another animal.

  • I know people think that you need the calcium but, from my research, by the time it reaches our homes, the calcium is not in a form that can be used by our bodies.

  • A lot of people are lactose intolerant which I think is just a natural reaction to something we are not supposed to be ingesting anyway.

  • Drinking milk causes mucous to build up in our sinuses which also compromises our immune system. Article: Mercola: Does Drinking Milk Cause Upper Respiratory Congestion?

Processed Food
If you are going to cook some of your food, do not use a microwave. Microwaves destroy all food value and no kitchen should have one. Only baking and frying in olive oil (or coconut oil) are 'safe' ways to cook food (and 'safe' is relative).

Also, recently in the news there was some discussion about irradiation of some kind on spinach. Remember the spinach scare a few years ago? Well, contrary to what the media says, the irradiation of food also destroys the enzymes. Another warning, I have heard that the shipping companies use equipment that causes radiation to go into the package.

The best food is what is grown locally. Now, this is not realistic in the winter for those of us who live in the north and have a real winter. But, the next best thing is growing your own and freezing. If you think about it, using preservatives may initially have been the result of needing to ship food long distances. If you buy locally, preservatives are not necessary.

Additionally, be careful of GMO food, especially corn. Most of our processed food is genetically modified. And the companies doing it don't know the effects on our bodies. Considering the widespread disease in our society, I would not be surprised if GMO foods were the catalyst, if not the culprit.

The best course of action is to get raw, organic food. The term 'natural' means nothing, so don't be fooled. At least right now, 'organic' preserves the integrity of the food.
