Changing Habits As Part Of
Your Feel Great Journey

How do we change our habits? How do we accomplish something really big? The key is in changing small things.

Have you heard this: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Now, I don't know if I want to actually eat an elephant but this is a powerful concept. We do not have the ability to eat an elephant in one bite or move a large hill across the street all at once or raise a child in one day. But do have the ability to do small things that are part of those tasks. And after many repetitions, adjustments and tasks, the job is accomplished.

Many of us, me included, are black and white people. What I mean is that we think in terms of all or nothing. There are VERY few things in the world that can be classified or done like that. Almost everything is in shades between black and white with lots of color in between. That's one thing that makes our lives so exciting. Trying to accomplish big tasks is one example. And changing the way you eat and live are VERY big tasks. And they need to be accomplished in small increments, one step at a time.

So, as you go through this website, pick one or two areas that you want to work on now. Then choose one or two things you are going to do differently. Work on getting those new activities deep in your life for about three weeks, consistently. Then pick another new thing to do.

However, I will warn you. Once you start the second three weeks with the next new activity, it will seem like the first one that you have been working on for the first three week may become difficult to do. At least that is my experience. I don't really know why that is. Just be prepared and don't let it get you down. Us all or nothing people may think the struggle is over after 3 weeks, it's not. But it will be easier to overcome if you are mentally prepared.

If you google 'changing habits' there are many websites out there with great suggestions. A few I recommend are

To help me change habits and simplify, I subscribe to the blogs I've listed above. If they help you, subscribe to them but don't feel like you have to read all the articles. I subscribe to many blogs (on various topics) and get about 100 articles a day to read. I usually read about 5-8 of those. But most of those come from at least one blog I've listed above. So I consider the list as the best for ideas on simplifying and changing habits.
